Co-Residents & Live-In Support Workers

Expression of Interest

My Supports is seeking expressions of interest from the following:

  • Co-resident / Live in Support Worker

People with a disability have the right to live independently – in a regular house, on a regular street, doing regular things and being included in their community.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will increasingly work to enable NDIS participants the opportunity to choose where they live, with whom, and have access to the range of supports they need.

Summary of Roles

Co-resident / Live in Support Workers

A person who lives with a person with a disability in their home, providing a level of support and companionship. In return they receive reduced rent and/or a payment. 

Creating Ordinary Lives – Relationships, Companionship

Co-resident / Live in Support Workers will be open to building strong relationships, providing companionship and contributing to the building an ordinary, varied and an inclusive.

Working with a local My Supports Neighbourhood Coordinator

Co-resident / Live in Support Workers do not work alone, support is provided locally through our dedicated Neighbourhood Coordinators. My Supports works with all parties to agree a mutually beneficial agreement, assist in setting up the arrangement and ongoing mentoring and support to all parties.

My Supports is a NDIS registered provider and organizes the payments and other administration tasks required by the NDIA.

My Supports also puts in place other supports that will be required to make the arrangement both flexible and sustainable for all – Co-resident / Live in Support Workers do not provide all supports, but are rather part of a support team.

Other Important Activities

Working with the client and with the assistance of My Supports Neighbourhood Coordinator, other activities include:

  • Encouraging choice and control for the client – so they can decide over their own lives

  • Building relationships – encouraging community engagement and regular friendships

My Supports will work with Co-resident / Live in Support Workers to ensure good quality and safeguarding for all parties – as per guidelines required by the NDIA.

My Supports is seeking expressions of interest in the following cities:

  • New South Wales

  • Victoria

  • Queensland

  • Western Australia

  • South Australia

  • Tasmania

Live in Support Workers (Co-resident) Payments

The payment is agreed in mutual negation, and are based on the intensity and frequency of support need, as well as NDIS guidelines.

Profile of Co-resident / Live in Support Workers

  • An interest in sharing their lives, building relationships

  • A good communicator

  • Ability to work well with others, the support team

  • A good network in the community

  • An interest in disability rights and a desire to make a difference
