Colleen off to the Transplant Games

My Supports are proud to recognise the hard work and dedication of Colleen, a client of the My Supports Neighbourhood Team – Foothills (WA).

After a heart transplant, Colleen has not only returned to work and raising a family, but also found time to train for the upcoming Transplant Games, to be held on the Gold Coast, Sept 30- Oct 6, 2018.

After the operation, Colleen returned to work at Lesmurdie Senior High, but now has some serious 'street cred' for having Xian in tow (her assistance dog) - although the kids were already treating her like a rock star as soon as she was back on their turf! Colleen and Xian are a perfect match, gelling well in the first week together.

My Supports Foothills Coordinator, Amanda Wilson has worked closely with Colleen, assisting her put in place the supports needed for Colleen to achieve her goals. “Colleen is such a ray of sunshine and hopes to one day to become a motivational speaker - she'd be damn good at it too!”

Colleen is also becoming a media star – featured in a recent magazine article – see photo.

Supports provided by My Supports included assistance with home duties, gardening, supporting Collen in the gym and at swimming while she is training.

We wish Colleen all the best in Queensland!
