Christopher had attended local disability groups however they were not a fit for him.
Kylie Bertie, My Supports Neighbourhood Team Coordinator – Macarthur (NSW) saw there was a need for a informal social group where people could make meaningful connection with like-minded people.
Kylie worked to connect a group of young people with similar goals and interests in the Macarthur area. Two My Supports support workers, Emily and Kirra, have been involved in supporting the group outings and encouraging the friendships.
“Christopher has become the ‘social glue’ of the group. People socialise outside of the group and invite each other along on each other’s outings” Kylie Bertie.
