AFL.com.au recently published an article titled Behind the Lens: The Roos’ Emotional Home Debut, covering a local All Abilities Footy match in North Perth. The story captured the spirit of the day and recognised the work of those involved in making the event happen, including our very own North Perth Coach at My Supports, Sharee Chitty.

A Powerful Moment Captured on Camera

The AFL article centres on photographer Kiara Blake, who attended the match with no prior experience in disability sport. She didn’t expect the event to have such an impact. As she photographed the day, she found herself moved by the energy and connection between players, families, and volunteers. What started as a regular assignment turned into something much more memorable.

The Roos, Sharee Chitty, an Unforgettable Day

The match was a milestone for the Wanneroo Roos All Ability Integrated Team, marking their first home game. It was co-organised by Sharee Chitty, who features in some of the article’s photos. Sharee has been a key figure in supporting the team and helping bring the event together.

“It was a really emotional day just to be able to see the boys live their dreams of playing footy and to share that with their teammates … it just showed that footy really is for everyone. They didn’t get a win that day, but it wasn’t about the scoreline… it was so much more than that.”

Our Commitment to Community Participation Activities

The day offered players a chance to take part in community sport in a fun, welcoming environment. My Supports is proud to have been involved with and to have had the opportunity to sponsor the event. We endorse and encourage community participation activities like these, which help people with disability get involved in local events, sports, groups, and other interests. It’s about creating everyday opportunities to connect with others and enjoy new experiences.
