What Are Supported Living Options?
Supported Living Options describe a range of NDIS-funded housing and accommodation arrangements where My Supports provides the support to help you live in a home that suits your needs and goals.
Unlike a single housing model, supported living options can take a number of forms depending on the person, their NDIS funding, and their lifestyle preferences:

What are Supported Living Options?
Supported Living Options is a broad term for NDIS housing and accommodation arrangements where participants receive support to live more independently. This can include SDA homes, shared supported accommodation, 24/7 SIL arrangements, and intentional communities. My Supports works with participants to find the model that suits their goals, funding, and lifestyle.
What is the difference between SDA and SIL?
Many of our supported living opportunities combine both, but they are funded separately under your NDIS plan.
| SDA | SIL | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The home itself | The support inside the home |
| Full name | Specialist Disability Accommodation | Supported Independent Living |
| What it funds | Purpose-built or modified housing | Support workers, daily tasks, personal care, overnight support |
| Who decides eligibility | The NDIA, based on functional impairment | The NDIA, based on support needs |
| How it’s funded | Separate SDA budget in your NDIS plan | Separate SIL budget in your NDIS plan |
| Can you have both? | Yes – SDA and SIL are commonly combined | Yes – SIL can be used in SDA or other homes |
Who are Supported Living Options for?
Supported living options are designed for NDIS participants who have higher support needs and want to live more independently in the community. They suit people who are looking for a safe, stable home with the right level of support around them – whether that’s 24/7 active support or lighter drop-in arrangements.
How do I know if I'm eligible?
Eligibility for SDA funding is determined by the NDIA as part of your NDIS plan. My Supports can work with you and your support coordinator to understand your current plan and explore what housing options may be available to you. If you’re not sure, get in touch and we’ll help you work it out.
How do I apply for a Supported Living Opportunity?
Browse the current opportunities listed on this page and submit an enquiry for the home you’re interested in. Our team will contact you to discuss the home, the support arrangements, and whether it’s likely to be a good match. If none of the current listings suit, register your general interest and we’ll reach out as new opportunities become available.
Can families and carers be involved?
Absolutely. My Supports encourages family and carer involvement at every stage. We believe that strong support networks around a participant contribute to better outcomes and a more positive living experience.
